Christmas Lights

I honestly don't know the answer to this, and I grew up a few blocks from Al Copeland's Gauche Christmas Extravaganza of Light and Electricity.

Choose the best answer.

When should you take the Christmas lights down from the outside of your house?

a) On January 6th since it is the official 12th day of Christmas and it's Mardi Gras.

b)  On January 7th - now it's the first night of Mardi Gras.

c)  You should keep them up all winter.  So March-ish.

d)  When you open your pool for the summer.

e)  Why take 'em down if you are just going to have to put them up again next year.

Please vote.  Since we are having a frozen precipitation event (freezing rain sucks), I may have off tomorrow.   But I don't want to rush into anything if I don't have to.

It's more complicated for us. We take them down the final Sunday before 12th night, because we are too busy if it falls on a Tuesday.

Why, Candlemas of course. Feb. 2nd. I thought we were all in agreement about this?

My solution to this dilemma was offered as a free gift to entrepreneurs, but sadly it landed with a stillborn thud.

Your idea is brilliant, Oyster. I am sure that wasn't or won't be the last. I like Homan's timetable. Maybe it needs to be some other day. It could be a SuperBowl Sunday morning (which I think is around Feb 2, B!) Is there an official "day" like "Take Down your Christmas Lights Thursday sponsored by General Electric and your Local Energy Company." I apparently have more questions...

My vote is anytime after jan 6th. The closest weekend usually works best for me. Taking them down before is just unNewOrleanian!

I'm with anonymous--the weekend after January 6th. It's always a little depressing to take them down, and, as you may have seen from the pictures of our house at Christmas, a LOT of work.

I saw your pictures, A. And I took mine down two weekends ago. It was much easier than I thought especially since I bought a huge box just for lights. Now if I could just get out to the porch and pick up the extension cords....
